Chapter Nineteen: But you need to wait and fall in line just like the rest of them
Another week has passed. I’m starting to get my shit together, hence why I’m right here, watching some sappy film.
“Nicholas Cage is so dreamy.” Sigrid said.
I chuckled but didn’t contradict her statement. Hindi ko din inalis yung mga mata ko sa pinapanood namin.
Napatigil to sa pagkain ng lays at napatingin sakin. “What? No violent reaction?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “He’s ok.” I answered without looking at her.
“Just ok?” Hindi pa rin makapaniwalang tanong nito.
I glanced at her as the corner of my lips turned up. “What do you want me to say? He’s no Alex Pettyfer.” I lifted my shoulders in a nonchalant way. “So, he’s ok.” I continued.
Sigrid gasped. “Oh beach ball, you didn’t just say that!”
I shook my head, an amuse smile escaped my lips. Sigrid has a thing for Nicholas Cage. Not that I blame her. Despite the age and his forehead, NC is quite hot.
I’m about to open my mouth to tease her more nang biglang tumunog yung doorbell. I grabbed the remote and hit the pause button.
I frowned. “Trey?” Patungkol ko sa nag do-doorbell. I grabbed her wrist and looked at her wrist watch. “Eleven o’clock.” I snorted at taas kilay na tumitig sa mukha nito. “What’s this? Daig nyo pa teenager na nagtatago sa magulang.”
Sigrid rolled her eyes but I could see the red tint across her face. “May teenager bang nag do-doorbell sa gitna ng gabi! So technically, we are not acting like teenagers.” She said childishly.
“Coming from someone who played Romeo and Juliet at the balcony for the past nights.” I retorted sarcastically.
Sigrid gasped in shock and blushed even more. Muntikan na din nitong mahulog yung lays sa lapag kung hindi ko lang naagapan.
After a few minutes, she cleared her throat.
She ignored my sarcasm and diverted her eyes away from me.
Gustong-gusto ko nang tumawa nang malakas pero sa nakikita kong uneasiness sa mukha nito. I decided to stop teasing her and end her misery.
See? I can be nice sometimes.
Sigrid gulped, looking everywhere but me. “That’s not him. He’s in Bangkok right now.” Tukoy nalang nito sa nag do-doorbell sa pintuan.
I frowned. Then who is it?
Sigrid walked to the door and swing it open. “What the fudge are you doing here?” Narinig kong bulalas nito makalipas yung ilang minuto.
Napakunot noo nalang ako sa tono nito. Kita ko yung pintuan mula sa kinakaupuan ko kaya nilingon ko nalang sila Sigrid.
Napatayo ako bigla nang makita ko kung sino yung katabi nito. “What the….”
Napatingin silang dalawa sa akin.
Sigrid looked at me with concern while Devon just stared at my face with blank expression.
I start fidgeting and wringing my hands.
I groaned inwardly when I felt my knees were shaking.
Oh God! Not now!
I heaved a deep sigh at naupo ulit sa pwesto ko bago pa bumigay ang tuhod ko.
“You need to get out or I’ll call the police.” Sigrid’s voice pulled me back into reality.
“I need to talk to her.” I can hear the determination in his tone.
He will never leave unless I talk to him. I can figure that much, even if my mind is jumbled. I closed my eyes and clenched my fists so tight.
Why can’t he just leave me alone!
I took a deep breath.
You need to calm down Armie!
Calm down!
It took me minutes to regain my composure.
When I thought I’m ready to face him, I looked behind me. “It’s ok Sigrid. I can handle him.” Yeah right! That is a big lie and Sigrid knows it. I’m surprised my voice didn’t even tremble.
Sigrid stared at my face incredulously na para bang nasisiraan na ako ng bait. Or maybe I’m really starting to get crazy.
After a few minutes of staring, Sigrid’s shoulders slumped in defeat. “But Demon is not allowed here. If he comes inside, he needs to be crucified.” Sigrid whispered with her hopeful tone. Bumulong pa to pero dinig na dinig naman yung sinasabi nito and I know it is also her intention na marinig to ni Devon.
I can’t help but smile.
Because come on, Devon is already inside.
I don’t know if she’s serious o gusto talaga nitong ipako si Devon sa pader namin at gawing dekorasyon.
Probably not.
Gugustuhin ba nitong makita yung mukha ni Devon araw-araw?
Despite my mood, I chuckled at the thought. “This won’t take long. I promise.” I assured her.
Sigrid huffed. “Shout and I’ll call 117 straight away.” She said and threw a dagger look at Devon bago kami nito iniwan.
“What do you want?” I asked as soon as Sigrid was out of earshot.
“You know what I want.” Sagot nito habang lumalapit sa kinakaupuan ko.
I grabbed my tumbler bago ko to sinagot. “Didn’t you already get it inside your car?” I paused and gulped down the rest of my juice. “Or do you want another fvck before you can leave me alone?”
To my surprise, he grabbed my arm and pulled me up. Muntikan nang mahulog yung tumbler na hawak ko. “Stop saying it so carelessly.” Seryosong sabi nito.
I’m shocked because of his reaction.
Something has changed.
I stared at him and gave him a cynical laugh. “That was your words Devon or you’ve already forgotten about it?”
Nakita ko na natigilan to sa sinabi ko. I yanked my arm from his grip. “At yon naman talaga ang ginawa natin. We fvck and nothing more!”
His jaw clenched. He looks like he’s experiencing an inner turmoil. Before he could open his lips, nagsalita ulit ako. “Or you want another round because you can’t forget about me?” I asked, my voice dripping with sarcasm as I shook my head in a taunting manner. “Too bad, I’m quite busy. I’m actually waiting for someone. But you can come back some other time.”
Devon’s face hardened as he clenched his fists. “Stop.” His voice is soft but fierce.
I ignored him. “But you need to wait and fall in line just like the rest of them. I don’t do special treatments. Besides…” I paused and looked at him from head to toe. “There’s nothing really special about you that makes me consider it.” I added with my overly sweet voice.
Tatalikod na sana ako dito ng bigla nitong pinigilan yung braso ko.
His expression changed. “Just fvcking stop talking to yourself that way and stop lying to me. We both know, you want me as much as I want you.” He growled against my ear.
I shivered.
Memories of him that night flashed through my mind. I swallowed hard. Pinuno ko ng hangin yung dib-dib ko.
Devon trapped my face and forced me to look up at him.
My breath hitched as I stared at his face. “When I said “I want you”. I want all of you Armie. And nobody living can ever stop me from taking you back. Not even your boy toy.” He whispered, without taking his eyes off me and then he let me go.
“I will leave now but I will definitely come back again.” He turned and walked out the door, leaving me breathless and scared of such a strong determination I saw in his eyes.
Nanghihina na napaupo ulit ako sa pwesto ko.
What the fvck was that? That was not the reaction I was expecting!!
