Chapter Sixteen: He may be my first love but he’s definitely not my last.
He seems to be studying me, so I returned the favour. I stared at him with emotionless eyes.
“Are you——“ But before Devon could finish what he’s going to say, dumapo na yung kamao ni Rei sa mukha nito. It happened so fast, I didn’t see it coming.
I shrieked and pulled Rei off him.
“Two knights in one day. These men treat you like a fvcking royalty.” Devon grumbled, wiping the blood off his lips.
I frowned and stared at him inquiringly. When Devon refused to meet my gaze, I let out an exasperated sigh and then, I looked at Rei. “What was that?” Turo ko dito sa ayos ni Devon.
Rei looked grimly at me. “He hurt you.”
I swallowed the lump on my throat.
I laughed but I know, it sounds forced. “Are you going to throw your fist at anyone who hurt me or going to hurt me? Life doesn’t work that way Lew.” I paused and heaved a deep sigh. “He may be my first love but he’s definitely not my last.” I said, trying to act casual as I waved my hand in the air in a dismissive and brushed off manner.
Rei looked intently at me and snorted in disbelief.
I sighed and glanced away.
Of course. Who am I trying to fool?
Rei knew my history.
I never mentioned Devon’s name before but he knew that once in my life. I fell in love and had my heart broken.
Rei used to refer him as “stupid legendary man”.
Legendary for stealing my heart.
And stupid for letting me go.
Almost every guy I get to know, worshipped me as if I’m some sort of mythical creature. Rei is one of them. In his own lewd mind and ways, I know how much he treasures me.
That thought made me smile and lifted my spirit somehow.
Without looking at him and in an almost amused tone, I quoted. “Painful recollection will intrude, which cannot, which is not to be repelled.”
“Quoting Pride and Prejudice now?” Devon asked softly that I can’t barely hear him. For unknown reasons, his voice sounds so familiar.
Of course, he knows.
He knows how much I love that book.
He knows how many tears I shed reading it.
I can still remember how much he teased me with Mr Darcy’s lines as if I’m Elizabeth.
Rei’s mocking applause snapped me out of my reverie. “This is not the time to talk about a fvck up classic romance.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. No one messes with my Pride and Prejudice and gets away from it. But before I could open my lips, Katrina beat me to it. “You read? Didn’t see that coming.” She blurted out, much to my surprise.
I will be offended kung sakin to nakatingin pero kay Devon to nakatitig.
Automatic na kumunot yung noo ko.
In Barbie doll’s case, naiintindihan ko pa na hindi nito alam yung tungkol sa passion ni Devon sa pagbabasa but not Katrina, there is something about Katrina na alam mong hindi pang fling.
But now, I’m starting to have doubts about that.
Katrina acts as if she knows Rei more than Devon.
Come to think of it, mas kinakausap pa nito si Rei kesa kay Devon.
I stared at her, looking confused.
Are they even together?
“You didn’t know?” I asked her and then I looked back at Devon’s face. “He loves to read.” I said matter-of-factly.
Devon diverted his eyes away from me which made me frown even harder.
I sighed. “Truth or dare, Katrina?”
I choose to let the subject go. Alam ko naman kasing walang patutunguhan kung ungkatin ko pa yung bagay na yon base sa nakita kong reaksyon ni Devon.
“We’re still going to play?” She asked which I answered with a nod.
I can’t just walk out now and playing is the only solution into this awkward situation.
“How about Devon’s wound?” Nguso nito sa putok na labi ni Devon.
I looked at Devon’s face for a second and glanced back at her. “It’s just a scratch. He’s not going to die because of it. He’s a bigger man now.”
Katrina shook her head, a smile playing on her lips.
“Besides, he deserves it.” I added, calmly.
Rei nodded his head in agreement and muttered “Yeah! Damn right!” while Devon growled.
Katrina giggled.
“Dare.” Natatawa pa rin na sagot nito.
Again with the dare.
I looked between Rei and Devon.
Rei looks less stiff and pissed off but from time to time he’s throwing a dagger look at Devon’s direction.
If my prediction is right, Katrina likes Rei more than Devon at malaking sampal yon sa ego ni Devon kung sakali.
Suddenly an idea crossed my mind.
I looked back at Katrina. “Kiss someone you like in this room.” I said with my innocent smile, looking damn amused on what is going to happen.
I felt a sly smile turn down the corners of my lips. I was consumed by my own thoughts and scheme.
The next thing I know, nakita ko nalang na malapit na yung mukha ni Katrina sa mukha ko. And before I had time to react, her lips pressed against mine.
What the fvck?
Katrina pulled away. “I didn’t use my tongue. I don’t want to make you even more surprised as it is.”
I just sat there, holding my damn breath as I stared at her face, dumbfounded and eyes widened.
Again, what the fvck was that?
Did I just get punk?
Karma is a bitch!
After a few minutes, I chuckled and started laughing hysterically.
This is so epic!
I looked around.
“That was so hot.” Rei exclaimed as he winked at me.
I shook my head at his antics.
Looks like he’s well informed about Katrina’s sexuality. So that’s the reason why she’s off the radar. She’s one of the boys! By choice and by heart..
My eyes landed on my side.
Devon looks shocked which is so confusing.
He’s the one who is with her, right?
“You didn’t know that she’s a lesbian?” Hindi ko mapigilan na tanong dito.
Devon cleared his throat. “I do know, now.” Sagot nito dahilan para matigilan ako.
I stared at him, trying to read his mind when Katrina’s voice snapped me back into reality. “I didn’t really know who he was. This is the first time I—–“ Bigla tong tumigil sa pagsasalita nang mapasulyap to kay Devon. She looks uncomfortable all of the sudden. “It’s not my business to tell.” She continued, looking everywhere but me.
Katrina looked at Rei. “Truth or dare?” Tanong nito. Halata na gusto nitong baguhin yung topic.
Rei looked between Katrina and Devon for a few minutes before he answered. “Truth.”
“Are you really in love with Armie?” Katrina asked which earned a chuckle from me.
Katrina looks really curious dahilan para mapalakas yung tawa ko.
“This is a giveaway question. Of course, I’m in love with her.” Rei answered, winking at my direction kaya napailing nalang ako sa inasal nito.
My relationship with Rei is different and no one would probably understand.
Rei’s face turned serious as he looked at Devon’s direction. “Truth or truth?”
Taas kilay na napatingin nalang kaming lahat dito.
Rei grinned. “Ok. Ok.” He said, waving his hand in the air. “I’ll give you an option to run away.” He continued, looking at Devon’s eyes. “Or dare?” He added.
Devon frowned. His jaw twitched. “Truth.” He answered firmly.
Men and their pride!
I cleared my throat exaggeratedly and threw Rei a look that clearly stated “If you ask anything related about me, you’re dead!”
Rei got my message and slumped his shoulders in defeat. “No fun and so unfair.” He grumbled childishly bago to tumingin ulit kay Devon. “Why are you with Katrina? Obviously she doesn’t swing that way.”
Devon coughed. Halatang hindi nito inaasahan yung tanong ni Rei. “She followed me.” Maikli lang na sagot nito pagkalipas ng ilang minuto.
I raised an eyebrow. Dahil sa ginagawa nito, mas lalo lang akong naku-curious sa relasyon nito kay Katrina.
Mag po-protesta pa sana si Rei nang biglang nagsalita si Devon. This time, he looked at my direction and finally meets my eyes. “Truth or dare?”
“Dare.” I replied, eyeing him suspiciously.
He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and placed it on the table. “Break up with Greg.”
Ano yon? Parang nagpabili lang ng candy sa kanto ahh.
“You have a boyfriend? You don’t do boyfriends! And who the fvck is Greg?” Rei angrily exclaimed bago pa ako makasagot.
I huffed and rolled my eyes. “Stop being overdramatic Rei. And Greg is not like that.” I replied as I filled the shot glass nearly full.
Instead of giving Devon an answer, I gulped the thing down.
Breaking up with Greg is a no no! Besides, how can I break up with him kung wala naman talaga kaming “relasyon”.
I slammed the shot glass on the table and took my brassiere off.
I only have a dress and underwear. Taking off my brassiere is more convenient.
All of them gasped in shock and looked at me like a deer caught in a headlights.
After a few minutes, Devon’s face turned hard and something else.
Katrina whistled and looked at me with admiration and so is Rei.
Come on, it was just a freaking nipple but they are watching me as if I’m posing for a pornographic film.
Men or men in heart!
“Truth or dare?” I broke the silence, probably breaking their carnal thoughts.
“Truth.” Katrina answered, giving me a lopsided smile.
I smirked back. “Why are you with Devon?”
Katrina looked at Devon and mouthed “sorry”, then she looked back at me.
I don’t know if I’ll get amused or irritated.
“Devon made me curious.” Katrina cleared her throat. “I might be a lesbian but he is a walking sin and well, I’m bored. I saw him upstairs, looking really worried and tense habang ini-isa isa nito yung lahat ng pintuan dito sa second floor. His action is so intriguing, so I followed him. When he found you and Rei. I can’t help but to walk in and save his ass.” She paused and shrugged her shoulders. “And the rest is history.”
My mouth hung open and my jaw dropped. I whipped my head at Devon’s direction. “What does it mean?” I asked in astonishment.Devon looked back at me and said something which rendered me speechless. “You’re not dumb Mine. Ano sa tingin mo?”
