Chapter Thirteen: And here I thought, you had something wild in mind. Shame really
Devon stared back at me, composing himself too quickly for my liking. His eyes were cold. He looked like a predator ready to kill his prey.
I forced myself to look away. I feigned cough and anxiously cleared my throat. My heart is pounding wildly in my chest.
I looked up at him again and waved my hand dismissively. “I’m just kidding. Lighten up a little.” I said with a snort, trying to hide my apprehension.
I know, I chickened out! Big time!!
I’m scared.
Scared to hear his comeback.
Scared to face his rant.
Because I know that look.
Kahit ayoko mang aminin! High or not, I will always be scared of that look.
I closed my eyes and let my head fall back against the couch. I placed the joint against my lips and inhaled it too deeply than necessary and started coughing violently.
“Shit!” I muttered after a few minutes of non stop coughing.
I could feel someone patting my back.
I looked up. “I’m fine Rei—“ I stopped abruptly when I saw Devon instead of Rei kneeling in front of me.
Devon heaved a deep sigh. He looks like he’s struggling with something.
I blinked when I realized that he was talking.
“Are you sure you’re ok now?” He asked in an audible whisper that I barely heard him.
Ilang minuto muna yung nakalipas bago nag sink-in sakin yung nangyayari.
His gentle voice.
His concerned eyes.
Memories of the past flashed before me dahil sa tingin at boses nyang yon. I hate this feeling. For Pete’s sake! He’s the damn guy who stripped me out of my sanity.
I laughed bitterly and smacked his hand away. “You are concerned about me now?” My voice quivered. My eyes widened as soon as I voiced out my own thoughts and I wanted to slap myself for that!
“Damn weeds.” I grumbled, mentally replaying my words over my head.
Damn my big mouth and freudian slip.
Devon stiffened and just stared at my face with an unreadable expression across his face. His jaw twitched.
An awkward silence followed. We just stared at each other.
“Give me your joint. You had enough.” Rei broke the silence. He was obviously oblivious on what was happening between me and Devon because he was so busy talking to Katrina about some random chick.
I swallowed the lump on my throat and diverted my eyes away from Devon.
I glanced at Rei and threw him a thankful look. “Oh come on Lew.” I whined and acted unfazed which is extremely difficult.
Rei sighed. “That will be your last.” Turo nito sa hawak ko.
“Are you kidding me?” I giggled, ignoring the fact that Devon is still kneeling in front of me. “This is just my second stick. You’re no fun at all Rei.”
“Armie Cortez!”
What’s with men shouting your full name when they are freaking angry?
I let out an exaggerated sigh. “Fine! Spoilsport.” I hissed at him.
Rei laughed and started talking to Katrina again about some shitty things. They’re talking about this girl na friend ni Katrina na gusto ni Rei.
I can’t understand Rei. Why he wants to bang another girl kung may “Katrina” naman sa tapat nito.
If I were a man, I’d definitely dig her.
She’s really that pretty!
I snapped out of my thoughts nang tumayo si Devon mula sa pagkakaluhod nito sa tapat ko at naupo ulit sa tabi ni Katrina.
Thank god!
But my sigh of relief suspended on my throat nang makita ko yung uri ng tingin na pinupukol sakin ni Katrina.
She stared at me with a knowing smile plastered on her lips.
I looked away and decided to ignore her. I gave my joint more attention and blocked the stuff around me.
I stared at the ceiling and let my thoughts consume me.
Pagkalipas ng ilang minuto na pag hithit buga. Rei broke my trance. “Let’s play a game?”
I glanced at Rei and chuckled. “A game?” I asked and scoffed in disbelief.
Can he just talk to Katrina about this whore he wants to bang para tahimik ang buhay?
Rei moved closer and brushed the strands of my hair out of my face.
For some unknown reason, hindi ko gusto yung nakikita kong kislap sa mga mata nito.
This glint means trouble!
“Yes! A game.” Rei shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly but I knew better. “I’m bored.” He added.
But the glint of amusement in his dark eyes tells me otherwise.
I gave him a weary look and pointed the joints on the ground. “Take a pick and light your joint then.”
Kanina ko pa napapansin na ako lang yung gumagamit habang silang tatlo naman, umiinom lang.
“It’s not a bad idea.” Katrina chimed in.
I raised my eyebrow in her direction.
“I mean, the game.” She shrugged her shoulders. “Besides, you’re almost finished.” Turo nito sa hawak ko.
Is she kidding me?
I waved my hand in the air and pouted. “Oh come on, that was so lame and—–“
Devon cut me off. “What game?” His voice was deeper than usual.
I huffed and looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.
Jerk!
“Truth or dare?” Rei answered, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
“What are we?” I scoffed. “A grade schooler?” I rolled my eyes and threw him a pointed look. “All the events and parties in college. That’s all you’ve got? A freaking truth or dare?” I continued, laughing.
Rei grinned and flicked my forehead.
I scrunch my nose in annoyance.
“Never have I ever?” He suggested, not taking offense at my remarks.
“That’s so highschool.” Sagot naman ni Katrina na kinagulat ko.
If Devon is not involved. I think Katrina and I will be a great friend.
I shook my head. OR NOT.
I smirked and threw Rei a look that clearly stated “Is that really all you’ve got?”
Rei snickered.
“I’m disappointed in you Lew.” I paused and tried to fight a smile. “Truth or dare and never have I ever?” I asked and shook my head. “And here I thought, you had something wild in mind. Shame really!”
Katrina giggled and I swear, I saw a ghost of smirk on Devon’s lips.
Rei let out an exasperated sigh. “What do you suggest then?”
I rest my cheek against my palm before my lips curve in a sultry smile. “What about…” I trailed off and gave them a straight face. “You, me and Katrina can have some mind blowing and earth shattering threesome while Devon stays in the background, playing himself and filming it?”
All of them had this “What the fvck” expression across their faces and I couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“Oh my god! I’m just kidding guys.”
It’s official.
I’m already fvcking high!
