Chapter Ten: Well behaved women rarely make history
I was jolted back to reality with the sound of horn honking beside me.
I looked outside my car window.
Traffic!
I let my head fall back against my seat.
I’m sighing and rubbing my forehead out of frustration and desperation nang mahagip ng mga mata ko yung iPhone ko na nakalagay sa deck na kanina pa pala nagri-ring.
I took my phone out of my deck and snapped it open nang tumigil nato sa pag-iingay.
I looked at my call log list.
Sigrid and Robbie are calling nonstop kung pagbabasihan ko yung call history.
Perfect!
Ibabalik ko na sana yung iPhone ko nang makita ko yung pangalan ni Rei.
Rei is one of the few people who earn my respect. I consider him as one of my “real” friends.
He went out of town for as long as I can remember and now, he’s finally back. His timing couldn’t be better.
I checked my inbox, hoping he sent me a message.
A smile formed on my lips nang makita ko yung pangalan nito sa Inbox ko. I opened his message eagerly and found myself smiling like a lunatic afterwards.
“I’m back honey-pie. Party at my place tonight! See you there Mie.”
Really perfect!
Reinald’s house parties tend to be wild.
When I say wild, it means more booze, weeds and drugs.
What every broken woman needs.
So who Am I to decline?
With a broken heart and jumble mind. I typed a quick “I’ll be there.” and send it to Rei before I throw my iPhone carelessly toward the passenger seat.
Time to go home and have some beauty rest.
I start my engine and peeked at my rear view mirror nang mapatigil ako sa balak ko sana na pag atras.
I saw my bag at the back seat. Bakit ko nga ba nakalimutan na lagi akong may gamit sa kotse ko in case na magkaroon ako ng biglaan na lakad.
Looking at my bag, I came up with a better idea. I started to drive my car habang hinahagilap ko sa isip ko yung address ni Rei.
After a few hours of torture ng dahil sa traffic, I pulled outside his house at may nakita akong ilang lalaki na labas masok na sa bahay nito.
Ang agang preparation.
Umiiling-iling nalang akong lumabas ng kotse ko at kinuha yung gamit ko sa back seat.
I closed my door using my hip and locked it.
I walked towards his house with confident strides.
Automatic na napatigil yung mga papasok sana sa bahay ni Reinald nang makita ako. “Where’s Rei?” Tanong ko sa lalaki na nasa bukana ng bahay ni Reinald na medyo may pagka-totoy pa kung pagbabasihan ko yung itsura at pananamit nito.
What is he doing here? He’s too young for this sh!t.
Tinignan lang ako nito mula ulo hanggang paa nang punong puno nang paghanga at pagnanasa?
I raised my eyebrow.
Male hormones!
I waved my hand in front of his face. “Where- is- Reinald?” Tanong ko ulit dito but this time, sinadya kong bagalan yung pagkakatanong ko.
Napapalunok na tinignan lang nito yung mukha ko at napailing nalang ako sa nakukuha kong reaksyon dito.

“Are you just going to stare at me all day long o ituturo mo kung nasaan na si Rei?” I snapped at him and crossed my arms against my chest. “I’m fvcking waiting! Go back to reality kid.” I continued, scowling at him.
Napapitlag naman to sa pagtaas ng boses ko. “Nasa pool area?”
I huffed and flipped my hair. “Thank you.” Sabi ko dito bago ko to nilagpasan.
Teenagers!
Saktong sakto naman na paglabas ko ng pool area, nakaharap sa pwesto ko si Rei kaya nakita agad ako nito.
So much for surprising him.
Reinald is wearing a skimpy tight boxer he called trunks and holding a can of beer.
“Armie?” He mumbled, looking surprised and confused.
I waved my hand at lumakad ako papalapit dito. I put my bag down on one of the longue chairs. “Hello Lew. Welcome back.” I said, eyeing him carefully.
He’s still dry, mukang kakalabas lang nito sa pool area.
He shook his head and grinned at me na akala mo mapupunit na yung bibig nito sa ginagawa nitong pag ngisi. “Lew? Really Honey pie? How many times do I have to tell you that I’m just enjoying god’s creation?” Sagot nito habang humahakbang pa lalo papalapit sakin.
Lew means lewd. He always makes lewd comments about everything, the reason why I called him Lew.
Natatawa na kinuha ko nalang yung hawak nitong can beer at ininom yon pagkatapos ay balewala na tinapon ko yung lata sa kung saan.
“You know my party starts at eleven right?” He raised his eyebrow and looked at his wristwatch. “It’s just five in the afternoon, Mie.”
I could see the mirth in his eyes.
I rolled my eyes. “Where are your manners, Rei? Where’s my welcome hug?” I asked, crooking my head at one side while spreading my arms open wide.
He chuckled. “Come here.” Sabi nito kasabay ng pagyakap nito sa bewang ko.
He started laughing and swirled me around.
Natatawa naman na pinagpapalo ko yung balikat nito hanggang sa mapilitan tong ibaba ako.
Natatawa na pinagdikit nito yung mga noo namin. “Good to see you again, Mie. I miss your beauty.” He whispered huskily with his sexy smile.
I shook my head. “I’m not even here in five minutes and you can’t stop yourself from flirting. Nothing has changed.”
He let out a hyena laugh. “Good to know, you’re still the same as I remembered.” He said, pinching my nose adoringly.
His smile is contagious.
I smiled and beamed at him. “Oh please. Well behaved women rarely make history.”
“Smart mouth.” Natatawa na inakbayan nalang ako nito. “What are you doing here so early? And where’s your guard dog?”
I rolled my eyes as the corner of my lips turned up. “Stop referring to yourself as my guard dog, Reinald, my boy.”
He ruffled my hair. “You know who I’m talking about. Where is he? Where’s Robbie?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “With his fiancée! He doesn’t have time to follow and guard me around. You know he’s getting married, right?” I asked with a pointed look.
“Isn’t he the reason why I’m here?” He shook his head. “That bloody bastard just gave me a call, saying I need to go home because he’s getting married. What an ass!” He paused and looked at my face with curiosity. “How’s the bride? Is she as pretty as you?” He waved his hand bago pa ako makasagot sa tanong nito. “Wait! I’m not even the best man! He sucks! Big time!” Tuloy tuloy na linya nito.
Rei and Robbie have this competition going on between them since day one.
If I didn’t know any better, I’d think it’s a bromance.
I punched his shoulder. “Stop messing with Robbie, Rei.” Sabi ko nalang dito.
His grip got tighter as he poked me on my stomach. “What’s with the favouritism? You clearly love him more.” childish na parereklamo nito.
I smirked. “If you stop getting into my pants every chance you get. I might consider you as Robbie’s replacement.”
He smirked back. “The best friend position?” He paused and shook his head. “Where’s the fun in that?” He continued, eyeing me slyly.
I laughed real hard na bihira lang mangyari simula nang makita ko si Devon. “Exactly!”
“Kidding aside. Is everything alright? What are you doing here so early?” He paused and held his hands in the air. “Not that I’m complaining. I’m just curious. Tired of the grand entrance now?” He continued, teasing me as always.
I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly habang iniiwas ko dito yung mga mata ko. “I’m gonna stay here. I need to sleep. So wake me up when the party started.”
He stared at my face.
He’s trying to read me.
I shoved his shoulder playfully. “I just miss you Reinald, my boy.”
He chuckled and pinched my nose. “You’re a terrible liar. And here I thought, you’re my best student.” Inakbayan ulit ako nito nang mahigpit. “Tell me when you’re ready.”
I nodded my head at kinuha ko yung bag ko na nilapag ko sa lounge.
“You know your room Mie. Make sure to lock it.” Pahabol nito bago ako nito pinakawalan, kasabay nang marahan nitong pagpisil sa balikat ko.
I saluted him. “Yes Sir.” Natatawa na sagot ko dito bago ako tumalikod para pumunta sa taas kung nasaan yung kwarto ko.
“And it’s really good to see you again Honey pie. Save a dance for me later!” Sigaw nito.
I waved my hand without looking back. “Sure thing.”
I might actually need that dance.
Rei can be a very good distraction.
After what happened earlier and with my flashback, I need that “destruction” as soon as possible.
