I’m working on some stuff on my computer when I heard a noise. Nilalapag ni Embry yung gamit nito sa lamesa, ilang hakbang lang ang layo mula sakin.

“Hey.” Bati ni Embry nang makita ako nitong nakatingin dito. “Where’s everyone?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “Doing their own things.” Sagot ko dito at pagkatapos, pinagpatuloy ko na yung ginagawa ko sa laptop ko.

Embry cleared her throat. “So, how’s the talk yesterday?”

Mula screen ng laptop ko, inangat ko ulit yung tingin ko dito. “Nothing that will interest you.”

Tinaasan lang ako ni Embry ng kilay. “Do you really want me to choke the information out of you?”

I stared at her face.

Sa totoo lang, hindi ko alam kung bakit kesa mainis, mas na aaliw pa ako sa ginagawa nitong pag uusisa.

  It must be the saint look.

“You know what, kung naiba-iba lang yung nag-uusisa sakin ng ganyan. Baka hindi na sya pumasok sa kahihiyan.”

Embry smirked and winked at me. “I will take that as a compliment.”

I chuckled and rolled my eyes.

“So, what did your sister want?”

I shook my head as the memory of yesterday flashed before my eyes.

I gulped.

After a few seconds, my face turned serious. “She’s feeling sorry.” I mumbled, looking at nowhere.

“Just that?” Hindi makapaniwala na sagot nito.

I stared at Embry’s face, looking confused. “Just that.” I repeated.

Embry shook her head in disappointment. “Sorry but your sister is a bitch and a whore. No offense by the way.”

Tinaasan ko lang to ng kilay, waiting for her to justify her reaction.

“What? Wag mong sabihin na hindi mo naisip yon?” Nakanguso na sagot nito. “The fact na ngayon lang sya humingi ng tawad sayo. She’s a real bitch through and through.”

Napailing nalang ako sa sinabi nito habang binabalik ko ulit yung tingin sa screen ng laptop ko.

“Oh come on. You’re shutting me down again.” Embry said childishly.

I grinned. “Shutting you down?” Amuse na tanong ko dito ng hindi to sinusulyapan. Nagsimula na ulit akong mag type. “Really Embry?”

Embry snorted. “In case you didn’t notice, you’re always doing that.”

Tumigil ako sa ginagawa ko at taas kilay na tinignan ulit to.

“You keep everything to yourself. In fact, all the important details.” She said, giving me a pointed look.

I leaned back against my chair. “I told you my story.” I reminded her.

“That’s not entirely true and you know it.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.”

Embry just rolled her eyes.

I just shook my head at her antics. “Why are you really here anyway?”

Embry huffed and crossed her arms over her chest.

Nang makita nito na wala natong mapipigang impormasyon mula sakin. Sinabi na nito yung kelangan nito.

“Mrs. Orozco wants you to help me with this heart pumping project. Apparently, naglipana yung alpha male dito sa University.”

 “Your boyfriend is one of them.” Paalala ko dito.

Binigyan na ako ng background info. ni Mrs. Orozco tungkol sa project na to.

We need to conduct an interview sa mga sikat sa University.

Embry waved her hand in a dismissive manner. “He’s different. He’s my boyfriend.”

I chuckled.

“So you’re going to help me, yeah?” Embry asked and for some reason, hindi ko nagustuhan yung kinang na nakikita ko sa mga mata nito.

Embry looks mischievous and more playful.

This is not going to be good.

I threw her a wary look. “Sure. Who do you want me to interview?”

“Ricky.” She replied without batting an eyelash.

Tinago ko yung pagkagulat sa mukha ko at blangkong tinitigan lang yung mukha nito.

“You’re not going to argue, right? I mean, you said it yourself, you’re completely over him.” Sabi nito habang ini-emphasize pa yung word na completely.

Embry is challenging me.

And she’s also looking intently at my reaction.

I hid my smirk.

One of the things I learned this past three years is that I’m good at masking my emotions.

I crooked my head at one side and gave her one of my practice smiles. “Sure. When I’m going to start?”

Nakita ko yung pagkagulat sa mukha ni Embry. Halatang hindi nito inaasahan na sasang-ayon agad ako dito ng hindi man lang nagpo-protesta.

“Are you sure?” Diskumpyado na tanong nito.

“Of course.” I paused and shrugged my shoulders in nonchalant way. “Wala naman akong nakikitang problema.” Dagdag ko pa habang binabalik ko ulit yung tingin sa laptop ko.

“You didn’t think, it will be awkward?” Medyo bothered nang tanong nito.

I rolled my eyes and looked up at her. “You’re the one who suggested this Embry. Besides, I don’t think it will be awkward. At least, not on my part.”

Embry stared at my face, trying to read me.

I smiled. “Kelan mo kelangan yung interview kay Ricky? You want me to do it today?”

Embry slumped her shoulders in defeat. “You can do it anytime that’s convenient for you.” Disappointed na sagot nito.

Kunwari nalang akong natawa sa reaksyon nito.

May sasabihin pa sana to ng biglang tumunog yung phone nito na nasa lamesa.

Embry let out a sigh of resignation and walked towards her desk.

Kinuha nito yung iPhone nito sa lamesa at pagkaraan ng ilang minuto, may ngiti nang nakapaskil sa mga labi nito.

That message must be from her boyfriend.

I forgot the feeling of smiling like a fool while looking for a specific text message.

It was three years ago when I experienced that thing.

Now that I think about it, I was so stupid back then for getting so work out ng dahil lang sa mga text ni Ricky.

Ni hindi nga yata pinag isipan ni Ricky yung mga tini-text nito sakin dati. Habang ako, ilang beses ko pang pinu-proofread yung mga message ko dito.

I laughed bitterly at my stupidity.

“Hey, are you ok?” Embry’s voice pulled me back into reality.

I gave her a small smile. “Your boyfriend? Is he gonna pick you up?” Tanong ko habang tinuturo yung iPhone na hawak nito.

Embry smiled broadly. “Yup. Kaya maiwan na kita.” Lumapit to sa lamesa ko at hinalikan yung pisngi ko. “Don’t stay too late. Pwede mo namang tapusin yan bukas.” Patungkol nito sa ginagawa ko.

“Yes Mom. Enjoy your date with Daddy Ade.” Nanunukso kong sagot dito.

Embry blushed.

Nginisihan ko naman to.

Embry pushed my shoulder in playful manner. “You! Buti nalang maganda ka kung hindi baka nasabunutan na kita.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment.” Pang-gagaya ko sa naging sagot nito kanina.

“Smart mouth.” Embry shook her head in amusement. “I need to go. See you tomorrow Rain.”

Natatawa na kumaway ako dito. “See you tomorrow Mommy Embry.”

Nang mawala na to sa paningin ko, nabura agad yung ngiti na nakapaskil sa mga labi ko.

Now Rain, what are you going to do now?
