A fvck up couple

Being in the same room with Ricky is suffocating. Kasalukuyan akong nasa labas ng bowling alley para magpahangin nang may bigla nalang humawak sa balikat ko. “What are you doing out here?”

“Gezz Seth!” Napapaigtad na baling ko dito.

“Hiding?” Tanong ulit nito na para bang hindi big deal yung ginawa nitong panggugulat.

I heaved several deep breaths, trying to regain my composure. “Bowling is not my thing.”

Tumatango tango na sinindihan nito yung sigarilyo na hawak nito.

He’s smoking?

Ni hindi ko napansin na may hawak pala tong sigarilyo.

“Smoking?” I looked around. “Someone might see you and your “angelic” reputation will be ruined.” Tuya kong babala dito.

Ngumisi lang to. “It’s cute that you’re concerned about me.”

I huffed and rolled my eyes.

Tahimik nalang akong sumandal sa pader habang tahimik lang ding pinagpatuloy ni Seth yung paninigarilyo nito.

After a while, tinitigan nito yung mukha ko pagkatapos ng ilang beses nitong paghithit buga. “What are you really doing out here in the dark?” He paused and crooked his head at one side. “And alone for that matter.” He added.

I let out an exasperated sigh. “I already told you Seth. Bowling is not my thing.”

“Or you’re just simply running away.” He retorted in a flat tone.

“I’m just right here.” Turo ko sa kinakatayuan ko. “I came back and I’m not planning to go anywhere.” Taas kilay ko tong tinignan. “And you called that running away?”

Naupo to sa bato sa harap ko. Humithit buga muna to bago ako nito sinagot. “If that’s your only definition of “running away”, you need to widen your vocabulary, doll face.” He smirked and made a quick glance at my direction. “I thought you’re smarter than that.”

Namumula at naiinis ko tong tinitigan.

Patuloy lang to sa tahimik nitong paninigarilyo.

Nakakainis yung pagiging kalmante at walang filter na bibig nito. Feeling ko pati bumbunan ko umuusok sa sobrang inis.

“Fvck you Seth!” Bulalas ko dito bago ko pa mapigilan yung sarili ko.

Mas lalong lumawak yung pagkakangisi nito. “Hide your claws. I’m on your side.” Sagot nito na para bang tuwang tuwa pa to sa nakikita nitong reaksyon ko.

“If this is your definition of “my side”, you need to widen your vocabulary, jerk face.” I retorted, giving him a sour look.

“Touché.” Tumatawang sagot nito habang patuloy lang to sa paghithit buga. Pagkalipas ng ilang minuto saka lang ulit to nagsalita. “Did you know that your sister is suicidal?” He asked in nonchalant manner.

My mind went blank as I tried to process his confession. “Suicidal?” I shrieked. “Wait! Tin is suicidal??”

He nodded his head and gave me a look that clearly stated, “That’s what I said, right?”

Damn this jerkface! Paanong wala man lang nakakahalata sa totoong ugali nito?

I sighed. “Is she really suicidal?”

 “According to Ricky. She is.” Kibit balikat na sagot nito.

I crossed my arms over my chest and raised my eyebrow. “I sense “but” in there.”

He chuckled and gave me a sly smile. “Did you really think, a shrewd and self-centred person like Tin is suicidal?”

Lalong tumaas yung kilay ko. “You seem so sure that she’s not.”

Kibit balikat na humithit buga muna to bago ulit ako nito binalingan. “I’m good at reading people.”

I snorted. “And here I thought, you just don’t like and trust people in general.”

To my surprise, Seth burst into laughter. After his laughter subsided, he stared at my face. “But doll face, the thing is, I like you.”

“What a load—–“

But someone cut me off. “What did you say?” A voice asked beside us.

Sabay kaming napatingin ni Seth sa gilid namin kung saan nakalagay yung entrance.

“Ricky.” Gulat na usal ko.

Pero seryoso lang tong nakatingin kay Seth. “I like you?” He repeated, his voice is slightly lower than normal.

Natatawa at nakangisi na tinaas ni Seth yung dalawa nitong kamay. “Keep your knuckles to yourself couz.” Tumayo to mula sa  pagkakaupo nito at tinapon yung papaubos na nitong sigarilyo. “Your like is different with my like. So chill.”

“Different huh?” Ricky mumbled, still looking like he’s on edge.

Natatawa na lumapit sakin si Seth. “I better leave before he disfigured my angelic face.” Huminto to sa tapat ko. “As hot as you are.” He paused and patted my shoulder in an infuriating, patronizing way. “It’s not worth it.”

I stared at him dumbfounded and then after a few seconds, I just shook my head in disbelief. “Thanks for the vote of confidence.” I answered sarcastically which earned a laugh from him.

“On a second thought, I don’t mind being with you. You made me laugh.” Kindat na sabi nito.

Just when I said “Fcvk off” back at him, I heard Ricky’s voice exclaim Seth’s name. “Fvck off, man.”

“Oh..Oh.. ” Seth looked between me and Ricky, looking quite amused. “You’re both match made in heaven.”

“A fvck off…..” He paused and cleared his throat. “I mean, a fvck up couple.” He patted my shoulder. “Good luck with that.”
