Big Shot #1: Ricky ❣ Fourteen ❣

I looked up at the wall clock and groaned.

I didn’t want to go to school.

These past few weeks, everything seems so dull and dim.

I thought, putting distance between me and Ricky, it’ll be good for me.

It’ll be good for both of us.

But………..

It’s been weeks since I have seen him and knowing that he’s so close has been driving me crazy. Kasi naman, Ricky found a new way to make his presence known.

He keeps sending me a bunch of white tulips every single day. I didn’t even know what white tulips meant until last night.

Ni hindi ko nga alam kung bakit hindi sya nauubusan non. Dahil sa araw araw na ginawa ng dyos, wala tong paltos sa pagpapadala ng WT sa headquarter ng The Voice.

Sa totoo lang, hindi naman nya kelangan na gawin yon. Sending me flowers every single day is just a waste of time and money. Dahil katulad nang sinabi ko noon, napatawad ko na to.

Forgiving him is easy.

But trusting him again is a totally different story.

I’m not that stupid and naïve anymore.

I’m no longer willing to be the victim.

Nang mahagip na naman ng mga mata ko yung wall clock, pabuntung hininga na naglakad nalang ako papunta sa banyo. After taking a long bath. I took my time pulling on my skinny jeans and tight white V-neck blouse.

After grabbing my laptop and keys, umalis na ko para pumasok. Nitong mga nakaraang araw, I’m kind of busy writing my own column for The Voice.

Even though everything is still dull and dim, I’m still grateful for distraction.

Embry and Natalie have both stopped over a few times. I know that they are both worried about me kaya pinilit kong umakto ng natural sa harap nila.

Pulling up to school, I checked the time on my radio. I’m fifteen minutes late for the first period.

I just shrugged it off and decided to skip my first class.

My prof is kind of boring anyway.

I’m actually doing her a favour for skipping. At least mababawasan yung natutulog sa klase nito.

For my next subject, maaga ko tong pinasukan. It’s my major after all.

Today, time seems to fly bloody fast. Next thing I know, uwian na. Siguro dahil sa bawat freetime ko, busy ako sa article na kelangan kong tapusin.

Papasok na sana ako sa kotse ko nang biglang sumulpot si Embry sa tabi ko. “Let’s grab something to eat.” Walang ligoy na aya nito.

Where did she come from?

Naiiling na tumingin ako dito. “Passed.” I shrugged my shoulders. “I’m not hungry and I want to take a quick nap.”

Embry looked at me disapprovingly. “Well, you are coming whether you like it or not.” She said. “And you can take a quick nap after we’re finished.”

I opened my mouth to protest, but at that moment, out of nowhere, Natalie chimed in. “Oh! You are definitely coming.”

“Where did you…….“ Napapailing na kinumpas ko nalang yung kamay ko. “Never mind.”

Ni lock ko nalang ulit yung kotse ko at nagpaakay sa kanilang dalawa papunta sa café na malapit lang sa university. Alam ko naman kasing hindi sila titigil hanggat hindi ako pumapayag.

Pagpasok na pagpasok namin sa café, nakita ko agad si Ade. Malapit kasi yung table nito sa may entrance.

Tatanguan ko na sana to nang biglang lumingon yung nakaupo sa tapat nito.

Napatigil ako sa paglalakad.

I could hear my heart beating nang makita ko nang lubos yung mukha ni Ricky.

It didn’t even occur to me that he might be here.

Kunot noo at nang uusig kong binalingan sila Natalie at Embry.

Kaya naman pala kasuspe-suspetsya yung nangyaring ambush kanina.

This is obviously a set up!

Napailing nalang ako.

I heaved a deep sigh and looked ahead of us.

Sakto namang nagtama yung mga mata namin ni Ricky dahil nakalingon pa rin pala to sa direksyon namin.

Seeing him is another reminder of why I never should have come.

His eyes were filled with so much emotions kaya ako na yung unang umiwas ng tingin.

Nilipat ko yung tingin ko sa kasama nilang dalawa ni Ade sa table.

May katabing lalaki si Ricky na medyo pamilyar sakin yung bulto.

Nauna nang naglakad sila Embry at Natalie habang ako sadyang nagpahuli. Nang malapit na sila sa table nila Ade, binalingan ako ni Embry. “Hurry up Rain!”

“Rain?” Ilang hakbang nalang yung layo ko sakanila nang magsalita ulit yung katabi ni Ricky. “Ricky’s Rain?”

Ricky’s Rain? Seriously?

But his voice sounds so familiar.

“Seth?” Gulat na usal ko nang lumingon to.

“Rain.” He stood up. “You’re really back.” He glanced at Ricky’s direction and whatever he saw in his cousin’s face caused him to smirk. “I knew that something was fishy.”

“Fishy?” I asked and when Seth flashed me his forget-what-I-just-said smile, I waved my hand in a dismissive manner. “Whatever.”

This angel face could fool everyone, but not me.

Seth and I…….

We are really really really alike!

I can see through his façade and unfortunately, that applies both ways.

He can easily see through mine.

“You know each other?” Sabat ni Natalie.

Tumango lang ako dito. “His name is Seth and he’s Ricky’s cousin.” Ako na yung nagpakilala dito.

“I will surely remember this face kung sa parehong university ka pumapasok. Natalie by the way.” Sabi nito habang umuupo sa tabi ni Ricky.

“I agree.” Tumatango namang sabi ni Embry habang sinisipat yung magandang mukha ni Seth. “Definitely.” She let out a dreamy sigh. “And it’s Embry.”

Bigla nalang tumayo si Ade mula sa pagkakaupo nito at wala sa mood na hinila si Embry papalayo kay Seth. “Pixie!!”

Natatawa na niyakap lang to ni Embry. “I’m just kidding, baby.”

I rolled my eyes. “Sa ELITES pumapasok si Seth.” Tukoy ko sa pang mayaman at exclusive school na pinapasukan nito.

Napalingon ulit sakin sila Embry at Natalie. “ELITES?”

“A very private school.” I smirked. “He’s kind of preppy.”

Katulad ng ini-expect ko, nahihiya na ngumiti at nagkamot ng batok si Seth.

He loves to play the victim card.

“That was so rude Rain.” Sita sakin ni Embry habang umiiling iling naman si Natalie. They looked at me disapprovingly.

I rolled my eyes and threw my hands in the air in defeat.

I give up.

Ilang minuto lang yung nakalipas and they both under his spell.

Seth’s pretty face is really a deadly weapon.

Naiinis na inirapan ko nalang si Seth at tahimik na umupo sa tabi ni Embry.

Hindi naman sa galit o ayaw ko kay Seth.

It’s just that Seth can really see through my lies.

He can read my every move.

It was kind of eerie actually.

In fact, he’s the reason why I decided to stop hiding or running away like he implied.

He is the one who pushed me to come back.
