I pulled over into my favourite spot. I took my key out of the ignition and stared outside my window.

My eyes welled with tears and with trembling hands, I slammed my fist into the steering wheel when I remembered Ricky’s nonchalant confession. I couldn’t believe his impertinence.

Don’t think about it anymore.

Don’t think about it Rain.

Don’t go there.

I leaned my head against the headrest and closed my eyes. I almost jumped up in surprise when I heard a faint knock against my window.

I opened my eyes and found Wyatt, smiling down at me on the other side. Bago pa to makapagsalita, nagmamadali na akong lumabas sa kotse ko.

“Miss me doll—–“

I cut him off by throwing myself at him.

Even though he’s in shock with my abrupt behaviour, he still managed to catch me.

I desperately need something safe. Someone safe.

And Wyatt is my comfort zone.

“One month seems forever huh?” Tudyo nito but his voice etched with concern as he patted my stiff back affectionately.

Wyatt didn’t utter another word. He just hugged me close to him.

Wyatt knows me well.

He understands my silence.

Ilang minuto din yung nakalipas bago to bumitiw mula sa pagkakayakap ko.

“Come on.” Aya nito habang hinihila ako sa bench, ilang hakbang lang ang layo mula sa kinakatayuan namin. A huge narra tree hovered over it.

Nagpaakay nalang ako dito. We sat at the wooden bench and stared at the water in front of us in silence.

Walang nagtangkang magsalita isa man saming dalawa ni Wyatt. Tahimik lang ako nitong inakbayan habang tahimik din akong sumandig sa dib-dib nito habang ini-enjoy naming dalawa yung view sa harapan namin.

There’s really something very calming about the setting sun. And with Wyatt by my side, tuluyan nang nawala yung alalahanin at agam-agam sa isipan ko.

As the sun goes down, the air turns chilly.

Inalis ko yung ulo ko mula sa pagkakasandig ko dito. Tumayo naman si Wyatt mula sa pagkakaupo nito.

Nakangiti ako nitong binalingan. “Let’s go back inside your car.” Sabi nito habang nilalahad yung palad nya sa harap ko.

I gave him a weak smile. “Where’s your car?” Tanong ko naman dito habang inaabot ko yung palad nito.

Tinuro nito yung kotse nito na nakaparada sa likuran ng kotse ko habang inaakay ako papasok sa backseat.

As soon as he settled inside, sinandig ko agad ulit yung ulo ko sa dib-dib ni Wyatt.

Automatic naman na pumalibot yung braso nito sa balikat ko.

“How’s the drive? Hindi talaga ako komportable na nagda-drive kang mag isa doll face.” Sabi nito habang hinahaplos yung buhok ko.

Ilang oras din kasi ang byahe papunta sakin kaya sinabi ko dito na magkita nalang kami half way.

This is one of my favourite places anyway.

I gave him a quick glance. “Para dalawang oras lang naman akong nag drive.” Nakanguso kong sagot dito.

Masuyo nitong pinisil yung balikat ko. “Maraming pwedeng mangyari sa loob ng dalawang oras.”

“Worrywart.” Nakanguso ko ulit na lingon dito.

“Rain.”

“It’s not a big deal Wyatty wyatt. Besides, I love this place.” Turo ko sa labas ng bintana ko kung saan makikita yung dagat.

He was about to open his mouth nang tumunog yung phone nito.

He ignored it. “You know, I can always—-“

Another ring cut him off.

Wyatt shook his head and finally took his phone out of his pocket. He looked at his screen for a few minutes before he sighed in frustration.

Without typing anything, he placed his phone back and again, wrapped his arm around me.

I placed my hand against his chest as leverage at taas kilay na tumitig sa mukha nito. “What’s with the frown?” Pinaghiwalay ko yung magkadikit nitong kilay. “Who texted you?”

Wyatt pecked my forehead, running his fingers through my hair. “That my dear, was you sister.”

Umalis na ako ng tuluyan sa pagkakasandig ko dito. “You’re kidding me, right?” Hindi makapaniwala na bulalas ko dito.

Wyatt shook his head. “I wish I ‘am doll face but I’m serious. She’s been pestering me for a few days now.” He looked down at me. “You told her about us?”

I sighed exasperatedly and nodded my head. “Yup.” Napailing ako sa pagkadismaya. “But I can’t believe she’ll resort to this.”

Wyatt snorted in disbelief. “You have so many things you don’t know about your sister, doll face.”

And I’m starting to believe that.

Napailing nalang ulit ako. “Can we not talk about them?”

“Them? Tin and…..” He frowned and then after a few minutes, realization hits him. “And Ricky? So my hunch was right. What happened earlier was all about him.”

I glanced away and shrugged my shoulders.

From the corner of my eye, I can see Wyatt staring at my face for a long time before he waved his hand in the air in a nonchalant manner. “You’re right. Let’s not talk about them.” He shrugged his shoulders. “I’d rather talk about my coolness than talk about him anyway.” Nakangising dagdag nito.

Natatawa na tinapik ko nalang yung dib-dib nito. “Cocky bastard.”

“Hey.” He pointed his own chest. “This bastard is your boyfriend.”

I can’t help but burst into laughter nang makita ko yung comical expression nito.

Nang humupa na yung tawa ko, sinandig ko ulit yung ulo ko sa bisig nito.

“Feeling better now?” He asked as he patted the top of my head.

I smiled and nodded. “You feel so nice Wyatty wyatt.” I snuggled even more against him. “You feel like home.”
