Chapter Five: Revelation (Part 1)

I studied my reflection for the last time in the full body mirror when something dawned on me.

I looked up at the ceiling and sighed.

Devon always makes me feel something that no one could ever do.

Last time I checked, I was still in college when I went gaga over a date and ironically speaking, also with the same guy. Justin Devon.

Now, I wondered if Devon is as nervous as I am.

I groaned, frustrated with myself for acting like this.

Not a good way to start ending some thread.

I mocked myself.

After a few minutes, I shook my head. I breath in, filling my lungs and blowing my anxiety away.

This is the day Armie.

No excuses.

No running away.

I steadied my breathing.

Tonight, I’m going to let loose and pretend that all the hatred I feel for Devon is gone.

I spend the next minutes convincing myself that this is a good idea.

A knock on my door snapped me back into reality.

I stay still for a few minutes as I grip my purse tighter bago ako naglakad papunta sa pintuan ko para buksan yon.

Trying to summon all the courage in me, I looked up.

My heart beat sped when my gaze locked up against his.

It was just three days but Devon looked more appealing and sexier.

The fact is, my body likes Devon a lot despite my hatred.

Hush Armie, get your mind out of the gutter!

Devon is openly staring at my appearance.

Sa nakikita ko, I’m not the only one who’s affected kung pagbabasihan ko yung pagtaas at pagbaba ng adam’s apple nito.

For a minute, we just stood there, staring at each other.

I cleared my throat and decided to break the silence. “Sorry, I took my time to open the door. I misplaced my phone.” I reasoned out lamely.

Devon curved his lips into a smile.

“It’s ok. I can wait forever and you won’t hear any complaints.” His face looked gentle and the smirk I’d grown accustomed to, was missing.  “You looked exquisite by the way.” His voice was soft as the wind.

Sighing out loud, I whispered, “Thank you.”

See Armie, you can behave in a civilized manner after all.

I thought and did my back an imaginary tap.

“I made a reservation, not far away from here. Five minutes’ walk.”

His hand is still on my back, sending shivers through my body.

I shrugged the feeling away and concentrated on what he’s trying to say.

We made small talk while we’re walking towards the restaurant.

Exactly five minutes, we reached our destination.

I looked around.

It looks romantic and serene.

Devon grabbed my hand and led me to that table.

Well, colour me surprised!

After we take our seat, a waiter eventually comes to us.

The appetizers laid out at our table, after he filled my glass with water.

Looks like Devon had everything planned out.

No wonder, there’s no usher earlier.

“Give us a few minutes before you serve the main course.” He ordered, dismissing the waiter completely.

Devon’s laid back attitude was gone.

I raised my eyebrow.

What gives?

“He’s staring at you and I don’t like it.” After a few seconds, Devon shook his head. “No! That’s an understatement. In fact, I extremely hate it.”

My eyebrow raised even further and scoffed in disbelief.

Don’t tell me he’s going to act like this every time na may tititig sa pagmumukha ko.

I bit my tongue in order to suppress myself to give him a smartass reply.

Come on, men will surely look and I don’t want him to go ape sh!t everytime, someone sneaks a peek at me.

Surprisingly, after that incident, the rest of the dinner went well.

“Wine?” Alok nito pagkatapos naming mag dessert.

I looked at his direction and scrunched my nose in disgust. “No thanks.”

Nagtataka at hindi makapaniwala na tinitigan ako nito.

“What?”

“You love the smell of wine.” He said matter-of-factly.

I narrowed my eyes at him. “And I don’t like it now.”

Devon held his hands up in the air. “Hey, I’m just saying.” He smiled and looked at the dance floor inside. “Let’s dance instead.”

My jaw dropped and my eyes widened. “What?”

Devon gave me a cheeky grin. “Let’s dance.” He repeated.

Is he nuts?

“But—–“

He cut me off. “Come on.”

Devon pulled me up and tugged me towards the dance floor.

He stopped right in the middle of it as he moved forward.

I gulped. “Devon—–”

“Shhhh.” He took my hand and placed it over his right shoulder.

He urged me to sway as he wrapped his hands against my back.

Our bodies were pressed against each other.

He held me and pressed me closer to him. “Relax.”

His hand is on my back, rubbing it against my dress.

Oh God!

That touch didn’t help at all!

I sighed, trying to calm my nerves.

Let loose Armie!

Let loose!

After a while, I rested my chin over his shoulder and the world around us blurred.

I shivered when his hot breath scorched my skin.

Goosebumps cover my entire body.

I took a deep breath, inhaling his scent. “Same perfume.”

Oh shit!

Nanlalaki yung mga mata kong napatitig dito.

Why now?

Why do I always have a habit of speaking my mind?

Freaking mouth!

“Yours is D & G. It has always been.”

I let out an awkward smile. “So, nothing has changed huh.”

“Nothing has changed.” Ulit nito, but the way he’s staring at me. I had a hunch that he’s talking about something else.

His stares.

 It’s more intense and electrifying.

I moved my hand down to his chest and felt his beating.

The erratic beating of his heart, echoed my own.

“It’s always been you.” mahinang bulong nito.

I gasped and before I regained my composure, he leaned back and nozzled my exposed neck.

“I didn’t stop loving you, mine.”

My eyes widened as I grasped at the lapel of his shirt.

My legs weakened from his confession.

I really heard him right, three days ago.

He kissed the tip of my shoulder blade and the side of my throat. “Despite my bad decision, my heart has always been yours.”

Red alert flooded my mind.

Devon showered my shoulder blade, another rain kisses.

This is insane.

I’m insane.

I moaned and closed my eyes as he feathered his lips against my forehead.
